Tom Graham's Annual Birthday Golf Benefit
Olive C. Graham was the mother of The University of Tampa (UT) 1982 graduate, Thomas H. Graham (Tommy). Tommy was a member of UT’s first national championship men’s soccer team in 1981. He went on to be inducted to Athletic Hall of Fame with his team in 1988 and individually in 2014. Tommy was also the recipient of the 2008 Alumni Achievement Award. Tommy concluded his 30 year work career at Pepco Holdings as a senior officer in one of largest power deliver companies in the mid-Atlantic region.
Tommy credited his work ethic and desire to succeed to the great sacrifices made by his mother to provide the opportunity to attend the University of Tampa. Olive was a woman of great faith in God. Through the nursing profession, she committed her life to service until her passing in 2007.
This scholarship is in loving memory of Olive C. Graham, a compassionate and dedicated mother, lifelong caregiver and devout Christian. The scholarship will assist a student-athlete who like Tommy, may need support during their matriculation at UT. The scholarship was created and initially funded by Tommy to memorialize the values of high character, commitment to excellence, appreciation of education and tireless work ethic that Olive exhibited throughout her life.
The criteria were established to reward a talented student-athlete in financial need but more so to help a determined student realize their life aspirations:
Over a ten year period beginning in 2014, the goal is to fund at $500,000.
The scholarship recipient will be selected at the discretion of the Head Coach in conjunction with the Athletic Director, consistent with school guidelines and the above stated criteria.
